The National Jewelry Treasury(Iran-Tehran)

The National Jewelry Treasury is located in Central bank of Iran in Tehran. This museum was constructed on 1955 B.C. and after establishing the Central Bank of Iran, it was inaugurated on 1960.

In Jewelry Museum, most of the royal jewelries of Iran from Safavid, Afsharid, Qajar and Pahlavi eras are exhibited.

The most exceptional jewelries of National Jewelry Museum are as followed:

  • Daria-i-Noor diamond: is the biggest and the most beautiful diamond amid the royal gems of Iran and one of the most famous ones in the world. It is said that Darya-ye-Noor diamond was excavated thousand years ago.

Daria-i-Noor and Kouhe Noor both are for Nader Shah (Afsharid dynasty) and always counted as pairs because of their similarity of their names but they are totally different in their colors and cuts.

 

  • Geographical Sphere: This Geographical sphere with its golden stands weighs about 5.37 Kilograms, covered with 51366 pieces of different kinds of jewelries with weight of 4.3656 grams. On the sphere, Iran and the titles of Naser-e-Din Shah are carved and gemmed with diamond. Tehran is covered with a famous ruby called Orang-e-Zeib and Damavand Mount is indicated with a large ruby.

 

  • Mah Crown (Moon Crown): This white stone is showing off between the royal jewelries with nice color and almond shape, weighting 112 carat. It was used on the royal armlet and next worn as bottom or brooch or on the hat and now it is exhibited separately in the museum.

 

  • Kiyani Crown (Royal Crown): This is a crown used in coronation ceremonies during Qajar dynasty.

 

  • Tavous Throne (Jamshid Throne): In the order of Fat’h Ali Shah on 1794 B.C., an imperial throne was built using the jewelries and gold of treasury.

 

It was named Jamshid Throne (Sun Throne) because of the Sun placed on the head of the throne until Fat’h Ali Shah married to a lady called Tavous Taj-o-Doleh and after that they changed its name to Tavous Throne.

 

 

Naderi Paisley: It is decorated with diamond and emerald and in the middle of the paisley there is a large, magnificent emerald. Naderi Paisley was designed , 200 years ago in Iran.

 

 

Farah Crown:  The crown of Farah, the Pahlavi queen, designed by French jewelers Van Cleef and Arpels on 1967. It is made of: 1469 pieces of brilliant, 36 pieces of emerald, 2 pieces of garnet, 34 pieces of ruby and 105 pearls and the frame is made of white gold (Platinum) with 1480,90 grams weight.

 

Pahlavi crown: This crown was designed on 1925 B.C. in the order of Reza Pahlavi and was used by him and his son Mohammad Reza Pahlavi. It is made of gold and silver and decorated with splendid diamonds, brilliants, emeralds, sapphires and pearls. It contains 3380 diamonds, 5 emeralds, 2 sapphires and 368 pearls. The weight of the crown is 2080 grams.
