Eram Garden

Shiraz Eram Garden was registered as UNESCO heritage site on 2011, as part of the collection of Persian Gardens.

Eram Garden is named according to the name of mansion and large garden that was created by Shadad-ebne Aad, the king of south Arabia to compete with paradise.

This Garden is probably exists in Seljuk, Aal-e-Mozafar and Gorkanian eras.

The present edifice in Eram Garden that has the characteristics of Safavid to Qajar architecture, was built during Naser-e-Din Shah kingdom with the order of Hasan Ali Khan Haj Nasir-ol-Molk Shiraz. They destroyed the previous building and the new mansion was constructed.

This 3 strorey building has an underground floor with a pool in it for resting and it is decorated with beautiful polychrome tiles. On the second floor there is a veranda with 2 columns, decorated with polychrome tiles with design of horsemen, women and flowers and a hall on this floor.

On frontal of edifice there are arcs noun as Santouri. The portrait of Naser-e-Din Shah is in the biggest arc and there are inscriptions of Hafez and Sa’di and Shourideh poems.

In front of the main mansion towards the garden, there is a pool with area of 335 meters square.

Nowadays this garden is used as the botanic garden and is at disposal of Shiraz University. The herbal coverage of Eram garden divides in to two groups of fruitful trees and unfruitful trees.
