Qavam Garden and Mansion

Narenjestan Qavam (Qavam Orangery) that is noun as Qavam Garden is located in Lotfali Khan Zand Street. It was constructed between 1878 to 1888 A.D., during Naser-e-Din Shah era, in the order of Ali Mohammad Khan (Second Qavam-ol-Molk) and his son Mohammad reza Khan (Third Qavam-ol-Molk ).

The main gate of the garden is opened towards the south in to an octagonal lobby, on the main axis of the mansion. On the frontal there is an inscription on marble containing Qoran verses, Asode Shirazi poems and the date of construction.

The octagonal lobby is connected to the garden with two corridors. This garden, on the north, east and south sides has buildings and along the yard there are 21 arcades.

The mansion of Qavam orangery was built in two north and south parts. In Qajar era it was noun as exterior building and with the mansion of Zinat-o-Doleh called interior building, had a distant with an allay  and connect to each other with an underground tunnel. The characteristic of this complex is that the interior and exterior axis have vertical angles with each other. The exterior edifice was built with the purpose of business works and holding ceremonies and resting of the guests.

Qavam orangery is one of the most beautiful monuments of Shiraz in the case of mirror work, glass work, miniatures, and woodcarving, carving, plaster work and stalactites workings in this era.
