Abou-Muhammad Musleh al-Din Ibne Abdallah Shirazi, with the pen-name of Saadi(Sa’di), also known as Saadi of Shiraz , was a major Persian Poet and literary of the medieval period. He is famous for the quality of his writings and for the depth of his Social and Moral opinions.
Saadi was buried in a place that was once his monastery and house, located in 4 kilometers north east of Shiraz, in skirt of a mountain next to Delgosha Garden.
In the 7th century for the first time a mausoleum was built over the tomb stone of sa’di by Khaje Shah-e-Din Mohammad Saheb Divani, the minister of Aabaqa Khan.
In 1576 A.D. in order of Yaqob Zolqa, the ruler of Fars, the monastery and mausoleum was completely destroyed until on 1765 A.D. Karim Khan Zand commanded to build a royal 2 storey monument with bricks and plaster.
The present mausoleum of sa’di was built by society of National Heritage of Iran on 1952 A.D. with a combination of new and old architecture of Iran in the middle of a octagonal edifice with a high-rise ceiling decorated with tiles. In front of it there is a beautiful veranda open towards the tomb.
