Naqsh-e Jahan Square
Naqsh-e Jahan Square (“Design of the World Square”), is a square situated at the center of Isfahan city. Constructed between 1598 and 1629 A.D, it is now an important historical site, and one of UNESCO’s world heritage sites. It is 159 meters wide by 525 meters long .The square is surrounded by buildings from the safavid era: Abbasi Jame mosque, Ali Qapu palace, Sheikh Lotf Allah mosque and Qeisarieh Bazaar. Several ceremonies held in the square such as: parade, polo game, national and religious ceremonies, punishment of criminals, etc.
